i've traced the main line of my family using the censuses and my own personal family records but now i'm stuck what can i do to trace the family prior to the 1841 census? I'm pretty new to this and haven't got a clue what to do next. |

Hopefully the 1851 census will have given good guidance on birthplaces for your family so it would be a good idea to search for possible baptisms in those places. The parish registers are likely to be in the Record Office or archive local to the event. A marriage is more likely to have been in a bride's parish and although you won't get father's names mentioned as such, there will be witnesses names to help decide if it is the right family, .... or to go off at a tangent if like me you find a married sister as a witness. Parish registers are great and often reveal all manner of snippets of information. Gwyn |

You need to start looking at the parish records for the areas that your relatives come from....Some parish records are online have a google for the areas, but you might be lucky and find some on www.familysearch.org |
