Hi Val. There is one site listed on the Net for outgoing passenger lists from Australia to U.K..but a bit earlier than the time/year you need, and only from the State of Victoria. http://proarchives.imagineering(.)com.au/index_search.asp?searchid=42 The N.A.A ( National Archives of Australia ) http://www.naa.gov.au/fsheets/FS56.html Scroll to bottom of page For details of passenger records inward/outward held in other offices of the Archives see: Fact Sheet 38 – Passenger records held in Canberra Fact Sheet 64 – Passenger records held in Sydney Fact Sheet 172 – Passenger records held in Melbourne Fact Sheet 184 – Passenger records held in Hobart Fact Sheet 190 – Passenger records held in Brisbane You should be able to email the site to make an enquirey, on what and whats not available. Hi Val As far as I know, I don't think there were departures lists from Australia, lots for those arriving tho'. Did the UK require inbound passenger lists ? You could try theshipslist website - they have lots of passenger lists. There is also Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild, but I think that's only outbound pass. from England. Some newspapers occaisionally mentioned departing passengers. Which state of Australia do you think they went from ? If son was born before departure, he should be registered in relevant state. NSW and Vic indexes are free to search on-line. All others are on CD Rom and Microfiche - Cherilyn will do lookups in Vic and WA on this board. Were they married in Oz, or born here ? If he was born during the voyage, the ship's captain had to report births (and deaths) on return to England. Separate listing to GRO, some might know exactly - have only vague recollection. What about locating them in a census after they arrived - whoops thats not free, but I could look for you Diane Sydney Australia
