Hi I found some information on the IGI about births. But when I asked the local Office about these births they said they could not find any record any ideas why thank you Margaret

Are the records extracted or are they member submissions? If they are member submissions, they may be incorrect. Sam x

They should definately be able to find a baptism I would have thought. Do they actually hold the non-conformist records that you need? Sam x

Margaret Order the film from your local LDS family history centre. The church records may not have been deposited in the Records Office - it isnt compulsory. OC

Which 'local office' do you mean? Do you refer to the nearest LDS centre? Reg

Margaret According to the LDS, the records (originals) are held by Essex Records Office - Chelmsford Document number D/NC 31/1 Ask them to have another look using this, their reference number! OC

Margaret Then the only thing you can do now is to borrow the film from the LDS and check for yourself. Sadly, I have to say that I do have ONE instance of an entry, supposedly extracted, being falsified by the transcriber, who I can only assume, had a personal interest in the family and did not want the illegitimacy to be uncovered....
