Pre 1837 Marriage- How To Find?

Please can someone advise me how to find a marriage that took place before 1837. Thanks, Hilary

I assume you've checked the IGI......... You need Parish records for the appropriate church.............these can often be ordered at your nearest LDS centre. Reg

Hilary Have you tried the latter day saints web site www(.)familysearch(.)org - remove brackets. this site has quite a lot of info prior to 1837. Failing that I think your next step is trying to find out where the parish records would be kept and having a look.

Thanks for your replies. I have tried Family Search/IGI, I guess now I will have to try the county records office for Essex. Thanks, Hilary
