hi. i have a robert Chaytor b 1859,on the 1881 and 1891 he states he is born north shields. on the 1871 (if it is the right person he is born south shields(over the river) do you think this is the same man? i have looked at gro and the only robert i can find is 1858 south shields. also i can't find him or any of his family in 1901. here are his details from 1891 robert chator32 fireman b north shields maria wife 36 b sheerness kent mary e dau 8 b newcastle william h 6 b benton maria 3 b gateshead nora 1 b gateshead any help over this would be great.thanks edith

Edith, if you cant find someone due to a mistrans, just enter the first name - preferably the most unusual first name in the family and the rest of the details but not the surname. That will often bring up the family with the surname mistranscribed. I think on this particular one Id gone for Nora first as unusual name and kids are less likely to have the wrong age that early on.
