Thanks Kath. I'm really getting stressed with this rellie! Can't find his birth on himon 1841. Thought I had him and 3 generations further back but his marr cert had diff father. Do you think it's worth looking at the will? sam x

The solicitor probably handled the will of William Anthony Pringle. When my mother died we had to give the solicitor a certified copy of the death certificate before we could sort out her will (which the solicitor had in his keeping). I imagine they filed it with any correspondence there was following my mother's death. Kath. x

I would think it is always worth looking at a will if you can find one. Not something I have done myself. Don't think my lot had anything worth leaving. None of them seemed to own their own houses. Kath. x

Get the Will! For £3.50, what have you got to lose?! I got the names of 35 people off my last Will, including married names of daughters AND details of a previous Will, in which the property the deceased lived in, had been entailed, thus giving me two more generations behind! All that for £3.50! OC

I can see the family you thought was yours in 1841 & 1851 but the father is John not George, are you 100% sure you have the correct marriage for William? Georgina.

Absolutly sure about the marr as i their eldest was OH's Great grandfather. I can track William and then with Ada from 1851 onwards they moved up to cumberland for a while then back to london where william died in 1871 and then Ada died 1902. there is also the pattern that Mr Sleap the solicitor seemed to own all the propertys that they ever lived in! On the 1841 William is living at 35 kensington High street with a Mr Chapman and there is a James Pringle bn 1834 there aswell. cant find him on later census's or his birth!

There is a death for a James Pringle in 1846 but they dont give an age on the indexes. Deaths Jun 1846 (>99%) Pringle James Kensington 3 239 Georgina.

There is a death of George Pringle in Kensington 1849 and a Pringle household in 1851 led by Mary Ann Pringle, aged 47 born St Pancras who perhaps was William and James' widowed mother?

Judith

Judith Report 3 Feb 2007 21:20

It was the 1851 census where James Pringle aged 17 is with Mr Chapman and William Pringle so the death in 1846 can't be him.

Just found Ada (miss spelt as Ade ) on the 1841 ! hard to read but at the same address is a Joseph Peacey who later married Mr Sleap the solicitor's sister Julia. also at the address is i think the third lady who inherited on the will of the solicitor Looking very very closely at William and Ada's marriage cert it is Joseph Peacey who is one of the witnesses!
