Question re: Legal age to marry please

If the legal ages were 14 for men and 12 for girls am I right to assume that on a marriage cert when it says in the age column 'with parents consent' that it means that they were over 14 and 12 but under 21? Mary

You had to be over 21 to marry without consent before 1929.....but many lied

Mary if they married with parents consent they were under the age of 21. Georgina.
