Thomas George to start with but sometimes middle names where added after registering If you mean looking on ancestry BMD index you only need to put first name as it wont work with middle name Jeanette

I'd look for Thomas George first, if only because the middle name may help you to choose betweed two births registered at a similar time, but don't despair if you only find plain Thomas registered, as the middle name may have been added at a later baptism, or even just adopted when your man was older and wanted to impress.

When I have found some of my rellies on Census they are shown with first name and initial middle name, Thomas G I have just learnt is Thomas George. What should I use when trying to find his birth. Just plain Thomas or Thomas George. Thanks

If you are using the transcribed records on the FreeBMD section of Ancestry, just use Thomas and it will bering up Thomas George's as well. However if you are using the complete index I would put in Thomas George, as his birth should be registered in his full name. Kath. x
