That will give me an idea of what cemetries my ancestors might be buried in? Most of them lived in London - Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Marylebone, Lambeth etc. Thanks Sue

There used to be a thread on here of all the online cemetaries records? Try putting a search in the box at the top.

Thanks for replying so quickly! Have had a quick look at London cemeteries and as I understand it Londoners could be buried in any one of several cemeteries and it's a case of trawling through the records in the hope of finding the right one. I had hoped that if you lived Bethnal green you were buried in Cemetery A and in Cemetery B if you lived in Marylebone. Nothing's simple in this game is it! Thanks again Sue

There are no 'rules' about where one is buried......it is a matter of choice, either of the deceased.....or the surviving relatives. My father was buried in a town 50 miles from where he lived and died.............. Reg

Familyhistory online have a lot of burial records. I think they have recently added Lambeth. It is the website of the family history societies and although look ups are not free they only cost about 10p each. Anne

I would think the City of London Cemetary would be the one you are looking for, it was designated as the London burial site as the churchyards were full by the end of the 1800s.
