I'm trying to find out who my G G grandparents' parents were. HER name was Mary Ann Parnell and she was born in Totnes Devon in about 1817. I thought their marriage cert may help. I know from the 1841 Census that she and her husband John Hunt and daughter Clarissa were living in Totnes but by 1851 they were living in Barnstaple. I presume that they were married in the Totnes area but can find no record. HIS name was John Hunt and he was a Jeweller born in 1816 in Barnstaple Devon. I have had no luck with his birth records as they were Methodists & no records exist in the archives in Barnstaple. All very frustrating. I would like to find details of their parents to enable me to trace further back on this branch of my family. Here's hoping someone out there can advise me what to do next!!!! Josephine, The marriage hasn't been transcribed by FreeBMD yet. If you look at the coverage charts http://freebmd.rootsweb.*com/progress.shtml you cn see the Dec qtr of 1839 is lacking. Sure enough, that's when they married. Stoke Damerel 9 516. Not sure why the Devon RO couldn't find it. Rose
