Came across this by accident and know there have been lots of queries re watermen etc.... On Familysearch.org I found my ggg uncle (Thomas Fishlock (Captain of the 'Edith' in Essex) you are welcome to use his name, then if you click on 'next household' you will see at the bottom of the page that these are all census details taken of vessels in East Ham. If you are trying to find someone who worked on the river who was not at home on the night of the census, this might help? Also if you find a waterman/lighterman on the census it is worth clicking on next household as the neighbours might be the in-laws! Since they tend to cluster together and inter marry |
