Hi all Any help or suggestions for finding this person would be very gratefully received 'cos I'm just about ready to give up!! Henry Rose - on his marriage cert. in 1879 he gives his age as 24 and his father as John Rose a Glass Maker (dead). Now I really don't know if he meant 'dead' or if the vicar misheard him and he meant 'lead'. I just can't find them on any census before 1881 - on the 1881 I've found Henry he says he was born 1855 in West Bromwich, but so far I've not been able to find any birth entry for him. I have no idea what his mothers name was either which doesn't help! Any ideas where else I could look? Thanks in anticipation. Mary

I know it doesn't help, but it wasn't compulsary to register births until 1875 so maybe he was never registered. Sam x

Mary, where did he marry and to whom?

Does this man appear on later census giving the same place of birth? One of my lot gave 3 different places of birth on different census so it took me a while to find him (he was born in 1830 so no birth cert). Might be an idea to widen the net. Apologies if you already have and this is me stating the obvious.

Hi all, Sorry I've only just got back, apologies I should have said I wouldn't be here until later on my thread. June That is definitely the right Henry Rose on 1891 etc, he is down as Henry Roe on the 1881 with wife Annie and daughter Emily. The birth entry though is not the right one - got the cert. Mary
