Yes -you don't need a CARN ticket, but should book for a daytime appointment, especially if it is your first time. Usual record office regulations and systems apply. As it is in the University humanities library, the microfilm room is actually open very late (11p.m or midnight I think) and you can access the room from the library to read anything on film. But obviously there are no staff there to advise and you cannot have access to wills/mar lic indexes or other resources. The worst thing is parking. There are a couple of carparks on campus, but it's sometimes hard to get in. If you are going in the daytime, there is a regular bus service from the city centre to the uni campus - you would need to use a park and ride from the city outskirts and then catch the other bus.(Never done that myself.)
