Hi The findmypast site lists registrations up to the end of 2004. Does anyone know if they plan to update this to the end of 2005? Steve |

Doubtful at present. The local registrar will keep the bmd registers for a while before they are 'deposited'. A certificate from an undeposited register can be obtained from the local register for £3.50 but you can't access the register and search for events..If you know the district, date, names etc then you can obtain a cert but without the details it is unlikely. The timeframe for depositing records is usually around 2 years so anything later than 2004 will be as above. Glen |

Hi Steve, Have you tried looking on Ancestry? They appear to have 15,870 death entries and 66,461 birth entries listed so far for 2005, so the entry you're looking for might be there. The GRO claims that findmypast lists all records up to 18 months from the present day (see http://www.gro.gov(.)uk/gro/content/research/groindexes/holders_of_the_gro_indexes.asp), so if they're going to list all 2005 entries en masse I would expect that they'll come online in July or thereabouts. The radical approach is to ring them and ask. Keith |

Thanks for that, Christine. The Ancestry listings look more helpful than those on findmypast, so I will switch my enquries to them in future. Note of sarcasm from Keith not particularly appreciated - what's the point of being rude without being helpful? This is supposed to be a tips board, isn't it? |

Well, Keith and Reggie... Both of you appear to be rather sad cases, posting on these boards only to be unhelpful. Enjoy yourselves! |

Stephen, I suggest that you trawl through this board to see how many times Reggie has been helpful to others and then apologise to him. |
