I shall have to do that, my dad left all his medals to eldest son and at the moment they are just in a box. I think it would be wrong not to make them into a display in his memory and Im sure eldest boy, who loved his grandad to bits will be happy to have them on his wall - even though he has a minimalist apartment! |

If you want to display the medals I suggest you have them professionally court mounted (on a rigid backing) by far the smartest way, there are many place that will do it for you and it is not that expensive, they will mount them in the correct order and replace old and faded ribbons. You can then mount them in you own box frame if you don't want them to do the complete job for you. Jennifer |

Thanks for your comments ladies. My plan is to get a copy of a photo of Dad in army uniform to go one side of the medals and do a write up about his service, just briefly, to go the other. A long-lost friend with whom I will be visiting shortly has become a framer and does the box frame type. There is an order to wear medals in - can't recall the website address, but it's worth checking ... I'm going to display them in that order. It is now quite important to me that 5 years of someone's life was given in order that we should be able to continue to live in freedom - and this sacrifice should not be forgotten. (OK the cynic in me says that things are not that great when you look around the world now, but even so!) Good luck with your endeavours. Annie |

Annie, I have seen some lovely sets of framed medals in a local museum - included a photo, a tunic button and a cap badge. OH is eventually going to do my father's for me, in a box frame. Jay |

In case anyone is in the same position as me, thought it might be helpful to post this. Dad served in WW2 and had a small collection of medals which had never seen the light of day, despite his pride at having served King & Country. I wanted to get them framed/mounted but discovered one of the medal ribbons was missing. Rescue came in the shape of www(.)worldmedals(.)co(.)uk. The website contains a myriad of things which could help complete a partial collection. I only ordered the ribbon - which cost just a few pennies - on Thursday and today I have received it. Regards Annie |
