Civil registration didn't start until July 1837 so you will have to check parish registers, have you looked on the IGI? Sam x

the IGI only has he info that you already have... WILLIAM BARSBY Male Family Event(s): Birth: Christening: Death: Burial: Marriages: Spouse: SARAH GODDARD Family Marriage: 27 DEC 1826 Oadby, Leicester, England ( WWW.FAMILYSEARCH.ORG ) You could try looking at the actual parish record but I'm not sure it would give you much more info. Sarah...Might be easier for you to take a look at the IGI yourself. There is also a possible Christening in 1816 which could be your William but I really don't know....Esta

Hi Sarah Marriage records from that era won't give details of either parent. Sam x

Sarah, how did you get that info without looking on any records? You should start familiarising yourself with the sites available to help you. familysearch.org is the Mormon site for SOME records prior to registration 1837. Why dont you go there now and have a practice. Its the one we talk about as IGI. familyrelatives.org is a site which is pay to view but particularly helpful for name searching bmd for 1866-1920. The full bmd index is free on ancestry. But try freebmd first for an easier name search option (but it ISNT complete) And use google searches for anything and everything including names. Read the getting started notes on GR homepage and the tips for newbies. But I am still mystified how you found that marriage without actually looking anywhere.
