Just in case it hasn't been mentioned yet....Scotlandspeople now have the OPR images available...Don't all rush at once :-)..Haven't looked myself yet, no doubt they are swamped at the moment... good luck, Sylvia

Is anybody else having trouble getting the images to load? I just keep getting a screen saying 'SITE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE'. It's the same whether I try Direct Download or ActiveX viewer, and the same for my previous searches which I have viewed before (censuses and civil registrations). Very frustrating! Kate.

Some people may not be aware that the BVRI includes some OPR birth/baptisms and marriages and it might be worth asking for a look up before spending loads of money on Scotlandspeople. The OPR images may contain very little extra information that is not in the BVRI index. The following birth comes from the parish register page that you can view as an example on Scotlandspeople and the only extra information not included in the BVRI is that Grizzal was their lawful child (mum and dad were married) and their abode was Townhead. Hi all I did have a quick look at my Previous Searches on OPR's before bed and several births I was looking for came up with 3rd child, 4th child, 5th child etc....which surprised me in some some cases as there are evidently other children somewhere. So yes I think it will be worth spending the money to look at the images. Sylvia

Remember the high infant mortality rate though, in my experience with Scottish relatives '3rd' '4th' child etc usually included stillborn births or children who had died, which explains why they may not have been in your notes before through censi etc.
