Hi Carol, Could well be that the Ann was added at her baptism. I know her mothers name so I hope I can now start to sort that puzzle out. Many thanks Kathlyn |

Have you had a look to see if one of her siblings has been registered, perhaps you could work off that for mothers maiden instead. |

You might not find a birth certificate as it was before 1875 when registration became compulsory. Maureen |

Kathlyn, What about Sarah Simpson Mar 1871 West Ham 4a 55. Perhaps they added the Ann when she was baptised? All best, Carol |

I have the 1871 census and SARAH ANN SIMPSON, aged 2 months, born in Plaistow is shown living with her parents, Thomas and Catherine, brother Thomas and sister, Mary Jane. The 1871 census was held on 2nd April. I have looked on Ancestry BMD JFM and AMJ, but cannot find a Sarah Ann Simpson. Any sugestions please. Kathlyn |
