Can anybody help me please, I've just spent the last 4 hours searching for something that doesn't appear to exist. My cousin many years ago needed a copy of his birth cert., he went to the local Town Hall, said his name was John Frankie, born 08/10/1940 in Lambeth mothers maiden name Parsons. He was told there wasn't a record of this. He went to Somerset House (many years ago) was told the same thing but told there was one by the name Frederick, He said 'Oh well that must be me and I've been called by the nick name John' and he has lived using that birth cert. ever since. It has now come out by accident that Frederick died when he was about 3/4years old in Lambeth Hospital and that John was born around June 1943 to the same mother maiden name Parsons. I've found Freds birth registration - Frederick G (A?) Frankie - OND 1940 - Lambeth - 1d - 193 - Mothers maiden name Parsons. Trouble is I can't find Freds. death registration or John Frankie's birth. Any help would be appreciated to try to let my cousin know who he really is and whether he's entitled to his OAP's pension which he has been claiming for over a year or better still if he's 3years younger than he thought. What a mess, families ahhhhhh!!!! Linda |

What was his father's surname? He would be registered under that. Regards Margaret, |

How did it 'come out' that Fredrick had died when he was 3/4 years old? Is there any proof of this? Mhairi |

Sorry if this is obvious - but have you looked EVERYwhere for his birth? He may not have been born in Lambeth as many women were shipped out of London to give birth. I have a bit of a bizarre idea here, but will hold back till someone else has a look, before I make a fool of myself - I read too many novels! OC |
