Hi. I`m really struggling to export all of the info I`ve now got in Family Tree Maker 2005 onto PAF 5, I thought doing it this way would save me having to input it all manually again.. However, each time I follow the instructions and then open PAF to check, none of the info has been transferred . Has anyone got some handy tips for a foolproof method or can I not transfer it onto another programme on the same computer.? Jay. |

If you're using FTM to input/change data then look for it in PAF, you won't see it because they are in different formats. If you have exported a GedCom, have you Imported it into PAF? |

Open PAF. Click File -> Close (to make sure you have no other files open) Click File -> Open Find the GedCom file you created using FTM. (you will need to change the dropdown list where it says 'Files of Type') Click Open. It will tell you to creat a PAF file. Click OK. Give the new file a name. Click Save. It asks for your details. You have to fill in some of the fields to progress. Click OK. Click OK again. It will then read the GedCom file. This may take a few seconds, depending on how big the file is. You should then be able to see your Tree. There may also be a Notepad open. This just shows you where the FTM tags differ from PAF tags. There may be missing information if there are a lot of notes. |
