I have previously exported my tree from PAF 5 to GR - does anyone know if it is possible to export again with all the new additions without losing important information? I find it much easier to keep my tree updated on PAF but like to share information with members of GRU. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Jean |

Hi Jean, you should be able to export from PAF with no problems, when you import into GR it will overwrite your old tree with the new information. If you are worried, export it with a new filename then you can keep the original to work on. Hope this helps |

Whatever you export from PAF on your own PC will completely overwrite whatever you have on GR. So if you have updated them independently, you may lose information. If that is so, you COULD export from GR, create a new data file in PAF and merge both data sets, before eliminating the duplicates - not for the faint hearted, unless the tree is very small. Don't, whatever you do, risk messing up your current PAF data - which is why I suggest creating a new file into which you import both your PAF & GR data, before merging the common records. |
