It most likely differs between area's. Try getting in touch with the local health board for the area or perhaps the National Archives of Scotland, they may be able to tell you more. Mhairi

Hello Isobel, Not sure where in ScotIand you are looking for, if Glasgow, the following website should be able to help you. http://www(.)archives(.)gla(.)ac(.)uk/gghb/collects/gghbinda(.)html I found my ancestors records who died at the Western Infirmary in 1882 and in 1901. Helen
