I´ve seen that there are quite a few marriages for the surname Fanjul in Valladolid on IGI. It might be worth your while checking the original film to get the second surnames for Tomasa and Juan - all Spaniards have two surnames. Parriche is not a Spanish surname that I have heard of, but the second surname might give you a clue. As to the place name ¨Wamba¨ - I can´t think what the original name might have been . Spanish tends to use ¨gu¨ for the ¨w¨ sound ( Guantanamo Bay ). There is a Santa Maria church in the centre of Valladolid - and should you find that Juan was Spanish, they might be able to tell you where the records are held. There are no civil regisrations before 1870. Pam

Just out of interest, Ive just entered both those italian forms of names in ancestry and a lot come up. Where do you live btw - UK or states - many immigration records came up from Italy to states.

Was your ancestor from Spain then? Have you got his marriage certificate which would give his fathers name? It does sound like a name very easily changed to Parish - or again, possibly Italian with a spelling more like Parricci or Pericci(which would sound like Parriche to an english ear and be spelt accordingly - the double 'c' in Italian is pronounced as 'ch').

Where did you get your information from - the IGI? Don't fall into the trap of thinking it contains all BMDs - it doesn't. It has quite a lot for the UK, mostly pre-1837, but only a handful for other countries. If you google, you'll find quite a lot of hits for Parriche on French sites, and none on Spanish sites. Even the IGI has half a dozen French Parriches (search on All Resources). Have you managed to find your grandfather in the BMD index or the censuses? Was his name really Iomas, or should that be Thomas?

twenty years ive searched for the above name ----then by chance last night i went through european countries and the only place parriche came up was spain it read JUAN PARRICHE----marraige 23rd august 1852 to--TOMASA FANJUL----- santa marie ---wamba---valladolid---spain any info on these much appreciated since the names so hard to find he just had to have been a rellie my grandfather was IOMAS PARRICHE thanks colin F
