hello all, im trying to trace my gggrandfathers life story.story has it, He was a common gardener who worked for the gentry in county cork.ireland. The daughter a lady... Howard eloped with him and was dis owned. and never saw her family again. They eloped to england and had children. I have the name dob and other details on there son, my ggrandfather. have tried to look up hes birth cert on this site but no matches. any tips please. much appreciated frances

Hi Frances I hope I'm understanding this, you're looking for the birth of your g-g-grandfather who was born in Engalnd but you can't find it. It may have been registered in the quarter after his birth, have you tried that? Heather

If he was born before 1875, his birth may never have been registered......it wasn't compulsory before then........... Reg

When you say you have tried on 'this site' you mean GR? You have looked on the bmd index? You can look through the index free on ancestry. If you just mean you have entered his name for a tree search then its unlikely you would find a match on here. Have you found him on any census? Give us his name, year of birth and where he was born please. Parents names.
