Births are normally registered in the country of birth regardless of the citizenship of the parents. Here is the address of the Kenya GRO Office (listed on the UK GRO web site). KENYA The Principal Civil Registrar Dept of Civil Registration Office of the President PO Box 49179 Nairobi Kenya Tel: 227461 |

https://www.familyrelatives.org/ have an overseas section that is free to access - you will have to register but not buy credits, I don't knoe how comprehensive their section is though |

Were the parents in the Forces? Forces overseas births are recorded separately (pay per view on www.findmypast(.)com) I'm not sure about other births. Kath. x |

There is an over seas birth index section on findmypast, she might be on that. I have some credits spare, if you give me a name and year I'll take a look if you want. Fiona. |

Does anyone have any idea if UK citizens living abroard ( in this case Kenya) in 1930's had to register the birth of thier children in the UK as welland the country of birth. I believe that the ancestor I am searching for may have been of UK citizens living in Kenya at time of her birth. If her birth is only registered in Kenya I think that I will have an uphill task. Thank you. |
