Bryan As far as I know my JONES didn't venture so far west. They moved from Herefordshire to the mining valleys... ( as if there weren't enough Jones there already !) and like the DAVIES, lived in the Ogmore and Garw valleys. Tom Jones, the Brake had a business in Blaengarw, transporting people in his brake and later a motor vehicle. Gwyn

Thank you Bryan, that seems a good idea. I do have relatives in Wales...not Davies, ... so maybe they can help with local knowledge, too.... A few phone calls may be necessary to pick up a few clues, I think. Gwyn

Thank you for your help Bryan and Jane. Lol, more DAVIES links. This means that even if I were to buy Lyn's birth certificate then I still won't know which of his parents links to me. I think,... but don't know...that Lyn's grandfather was William Davies, brother of my grandfather Daniel. William and his wife ( name unknown) had alot of children, names mostly unknown, so I don't know which of William's children was probably a parent of Lyn. Gwyn

Former Wales International Passes 24 September 2004, 11:29 am Former left wing threequarter Lyn Davies who died earlier this month at the age of 64 made three appearances for Wales during the 1966 Championship season. Davies was an outstanding performer for the Bridgend club in particular, firstly as a player and then as a coach, but began and finished his playing career with his home village of Blaengarw. He was born at Blaengarw on February 02 1940 and was later to appear for Bridgend Sports, London Welsh and then the Army and the British Army of the Rhine during his National Service. A former colliery worker, he often used his bulk to force his way over the opposing line. In later years he made one appearance for Bridgend alongside his son Lee, both playing in the pack with Lee still playing this season for the Blaengarw club. His international debut was at Twickenham, when he played outside clubmate Keith Bradshaw in a 1-6 win over England, then appearing in the 8-3 victory over Scotland in Cardiff and the 9-6 loss to Ireland in Dublin. bryan.

Thank you Jackie, I look forward to hearing from you. Gwynne I have plenty of spare DAVIES and JONES if you'd like a challenge......... Harry Yes, you are right. I know of that Lyn, .... a tutor when I was at college. I think the rugby player's build might have prevented such Olympic achievement...Lol. Gwyn

Can anyone offer information about Lyn DAVIES, who died in 2004.?..... I have been told that he was a relative but I don't know how he fits into the picture..... Google suggests that he was born in Blaengarw and this would fit with known family location...... All these DAVIES confuse me.
