EST Saturday - Sunday: Closed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TRY THIS FIRST Question Why is the site acting like I am only a 'Registered Guest' when I have paid for access? Answer If you are not being recognized properly when logged in to the Ancestry site (such as being recognized as a Registered Guest when you are a paid subscriber), you will want to log out and then log back in. To log out, simply click on the Log Out link at the top of the homepage (next to the My Account link). To log back in, do the following: 1. Locate the login area in the top right corner of most pages on Ancestry 2. Fill in both your username and password in their separate fields PLEASE NOTE: To request a list of usernames and passwords for you, click here. 3. Click on the Login button after the appropriate username and password have been entered The page should reload, showing that you are logged in by a welcome message in the upper right corner. If you continue to experience difficulties, please see the following suggestions: I. Enable Cookies Please make sure your browser is set to accept cookies. Our site security uses a small text file called a cookie that allows us to identify your access rights and account information. This file enables us to keep you logged in to our site and to properly display your information when you view saved links, Message Board postings, account details, etc. For further details on how to enable your cookies, please click here. II. Disable Security Software Please make sure that your computer is not running programs such as Cookie Buster, Guard Dog, Watch Dog, Exterminator, etc. which may block the use of cookies. If any of these programs are running, you may experience difficulties accessing or using the site. General security programs such as McAfee, Norton, Zone Alarm, etc., may also cause difficulties. If you would rather not completely disable such software, you may attempt to change your software's settings to always allow Ancestry cookies. For specific instructions, you will need to consult your security program's Help file, instruction manual, or technical support team. III. Delete Cookies To be able to better access Ancestry, it may be necessary for you to clear your cookie files. As indicated above, these files represent your login information, access rights, saved People I'm Looking For, etc. If a cookie has become corrupted (such as an error occurred when the cookie file was created), it will be necessary to completely remove that cookie. After it has been deleted, you can log back in to Ancestry, as indicated at the top of this Knowledge Base article. For further details on how to delete your cookies, please click here. After you complete the above suggestions, you should be able to access our site properly. If you still have difficulty, please email us by clicking on the Email Ancestry Support tab at the top of this article and fill out the form provided. IMPORTANT: After filling out the email form and submitting your question, your email will not be fully submitted unless you also click the following button at the bottom of the next page that is loaded: |
