Searching census records using disability

Have you not been able to find him with known details? Perhaps if you put all the details you do know about him on here others may be able to search. |

No, the disabilities recorded on the 1901 census were: deaf, dumb, blind, lunatic, imbecile - but not physical disabilities. The earlier censuses only recorded deaf, dumb & blind. In any case, the disabilities column has not been indexed (at least not on Ancestry), so you can't search on that field. Cheers, Richard |

Hi Fellow Sleuths! I have a picture I am trying to match up to the family tree. I think its my great-great grandfather/grandmother. The man has lost the lower part of his arm and I wonder whether they would record this on the census - and then whether I can do a search using this? Thnaks for help |
