Get a decent family tree program, like Family tree maker (S and N Genealogy have it for about £12 at the moment with a months free ancestry). Enter all your info on there as you go along and always back it up to cd. Put notes to check up on info on the individuals note screen. Produce from the program your own internet web page as a belt and braces fall back if your puter ever crashes and you then tread on the back up cd record. Get a certificate folder for all the certs. S and N Genealogy or my-history have very professional looking ones (get the long one if you dont want to fold the certs) Get a photo album for all the photos, docs etc.(Ditto suppliers) Get some files from woolworths, lever arch ones, and try to keep bits of info on families separate, maternal, paternal lines. Then get a huge box and put all the stuff you dont know what to do with in it! LOL

Hi Matt There was a thread about this recently - I've bumped it up the list for you (thread is by Margaret Weaver). If you type 'organise' in the search box for the tips board you'll find there are a few more threads to have a look at too! Cheryl :o)
