If you know the name of the town/village where they were from Google ''XXXXXXXX Parish Records''. Often brings up an online register that some kind person has transcribed. Rootschat*com has boards that are for each county. You can ask for a lookup and you'll get emailed when there is a reply. Or try posting the details on here? |

You need to access parish registers. Some are online though they are far from complete. Try the IGI website and google for the county you need. Some counties are now in the OPC (online parish clerk) network and have started to make parish records more readily available. It is possible to ask for searches on your behalf from the records office but they come at a price. Realistically you are at a point where the internet can help you find the location of records but might not have the records available to view, when you get to that point you have to put a bit of 'legwork' into the research. Have you thought about joining the county Family History Society, for a few pounds they are a worthwhile source of information and advice. Glen |

Can anyone please give me ideas on how to trace my ancestors further back than the 1837 BMD and 1841 census in the North Herefordshire / Shropshire area as I am unable to visit county records offices. Thankyou Linda |
