I want to know who lived in my house in the 1861 census, how do I find out please? caz xxx

Hi Carol, As you know the address,on Ancestry,it will be a case of locating the address on the census by firstly going to the relevant census year page, scrolling down and finding the county, locating the parish, then checking the enumerators descriptions of the districts until you find the road you are looking for. Then trawl through the district until you find the address. Can be a time consuming job. Good luck

Hi, You can do a search by address on Findmypast.com, or the genealogist.com site. I'm a member of the last so if you want I can try to look it up for you. Cheers Phil

At best you can find the occupants of the street, bearing in mind that the early census might not have house numbers (or they may have changed) then at best you can hope to match the street but the exact house might not be possible.
