Do records exsist for 1841, apart from the census, and if so where can they be viewed? Any information appreciated, thanks. |

You could try the quarter session route if there is not much on the actual prison... The Northumberland and Durham Family History Society has this in its catalogue. May be worth e-mailing them to ask about it. Newcastle Quarter Sessions Order Books 1818-1855 (NDFHS). Also (if you google Tyne and Wear Archives the web site comes up). Tyne and Wear Archives Blandford House Newcastle upon Tyne These have some holdings for the gaol, although it does not look like a lot for the period of 1841. Again worth contacting to see if they have anything either on the prison or quarter session holdings. Gail. |
