Shiela, Was your father named on your birth certificate? As you were born in 1941 and you say he was in the Armed Forces between 1938 and 1945, if he WAS named, I would have expected to see his army number and regiment on your birth certificate in the 'Occupation' column. If he was NOT named, then I really think your best bet would be to contact his living son (although I realise you may have reasons for not wanting to do this). Kath. x

Sheila, If you know his name go to the World War II nomial roll site and search from there. You can leave all branches of the ADF there. Only problem may be if he has a VERY common name. Email me direct if you have a problem, as I don't check back here very often.

Hi Sheila, Have you tried with National Archives of Australia? This website is www.naa.gov.au . There are some records of WW2. Click on RecordSearch then click on Search Now and type a name in a box of Keyswords. Regards, Steven from Melbourne.

Was he in the armed forces when any of his children were born? If so, his regiment may be on their birth certificate. If not then I think you will find it very difficult to find the information unless there is someone else in the family you can ask. Kath. x

Good Morning from Tropical North Queensland I am trying to find my father. I have recieved my adoption file in which my B M names my father---- how to find out what branch of the U K Armed Forces he was in in 1938/1945, and according to the G R O there are only 2 gentlemen that fit the bill but I must find out what branch he was in. Is there any way that this can be done. other than contacting there family which I well not do . Regards Sheila
