I thought it might be Doreen .. but I can't find any for the surname I am looking for. Anyone with any bright ideas? Cheers

It sounds more like a nick name, the only time I have come across it it was short for Dimples, so called pet name for an infant because of her dimples, and the name stuck. Jennifer

Nickname? Dimple(s) - do you know if she was chubby as a baby? Seriously, Dympna would be my first choice. Jill

Was it on a census? One of my ancestors was named Dink but his name was Louis. He was just the youngest in the family.

Could it be a census translation error??? I was looking for Martha and she was on a census as 'Marble', another person was called Harriet and I think that I've found her under 'Harvest'...I'm sure thats not a real name but if anyone thinks different then let me know!!

Why not give us the name and dates and see if we can help find her/him. Marie
