AN IRISH QUESTION

I am trying to find relatives born in Southern Ireland. The only information is that one was named John McCaffery and served in the British Army during WW1, and died about 1943-1944and his son was Joe McCaffery, who came to England in the 1930s. Not much to go on but are there any army records that may help? David
