One of my rellies gives Trunch Norfolk as place of birth in 51, 61, and 1881. 1871(last one I looked at) says Fring, which was in fact correct. He lived in Trunch though, from 1841 - 1881. In 1901 his grandson is recorded as born Ipswich, Norfolk . He too was born in Trunch, but had moved to the north-east by 1892. Perhaps he was asked where did you come from, and named the port where his journey had begun. Jay

I think you'll find that the censuses are not always exact, as someone pointed out to me, sometimes the children or wife gave the information and they did not always give the right information. For eg. my gt Grandad, I have looked at the different censuses and one says born in Norwich Norfolk, another says born in Banningham Norfolk, another says North Walsham Norfolk etc, I actually found by looking at the Birth Indexes on Ancestry.co.uk that he was born in Aylsham Norfolk. So if I were you I'd check the Birth Indexes and it will tell you where the Birthplace is. Kind regards ~Stella~

I agree with Maureen, you have 2 Janes. The one on the 1891 census is 26 and the one in 1901 is 28. Also the one on the 91 census has children from a previous marrige who are too old to be the children of the 1901 Jane. Margaret

So if he's been married twice i should probably find another marriage for him, looking at the two census the ages are different the Norfolk one is abt1873 and the Birmingham one is abt1865 will keep looking. thank you, kath

Hi Katherine I think Paul Lloyd had 2 wives both named Jane. Jane L Laskey born c1873 Barnham Broom Norfolk is working as a servant in Heigham Norfolk in 1891 so can't be Jane the wife of Paul in 1891. Maureen

I think that's just a case of the census taker writing down what he heard. She said Barnham Broom and he heard Birmingham. I have one like that in my tree. He was born Halvergate, Norfolk and the census taker wrote down Harrogate, Yorkshire because they were in Yorkshire at the time of the census. Margaret

Can any help have Jane Lucy Laskey married to my Great Grandad Paul Richard Lloyd(born 1864) but on ancestry in have found the marriage date as 17th June 1899, but her birth place in the 1891 census is Birmingham,Warwickshire and in the 1901 census is Barnham Broom, Norfolk. Must be the same person as the kids are the same. Please Please can someone tell me how i can find out which is the right birth place. Thankyou Kathy
