Marie, if the person was still a British subject the death should have been registered with the British Consul. They in turn send the info (sometimes sporadically) to the UK so when it goes into the records over here it could be' well out'. You can search the Overseas Deaths at the PRO in London and some Local Record Offices have them on fiche too. I was able to find my uncle's death from 1936 after he had died in Indonesia. The death certificate I received wasn't very informative though, no cause of death on it. D.

Thanks Trudi, I had forgotten to think logically about Hawaii being a state of the USA. I will investigate this avenue Many thanks Marie

Hi Marie, I think you can search on findmypast for overseas deaths. The death would have had to be registered in the UK for you to find it through this method, apparently this isn't always done. I have a similar problem and have discovered that the death has to be registered in the country it happened, but not always registered with UK records office. I don't know if Hawaii records are included as USA records, maybe if you find out if this is the case your search may become a little easier. Good luck. Trudi

Does anyone have idea where to look for death abroad, possibly Hawaii around 1966, I know her body was not bought back to England name was Lynette Ida Murial (maiden Name Lowe) Heritage. I do not know by which name she was known. I was not sure if Ancestry had a foreign death are some kind person could look for me. Many thanks Marie Kent
