I've an ancestor James Jones married to Mary Ann in Middlesex. Their son also James was born c1827 in Shoreditch. My problem is that there are two James Jones marrying Mary Ann's in the right parish at about the right year showing on IGI. I realise that even these two may not be the right James Jones but can anyone give me a clue how to narrow it down? Thanks Sue |

Susan, are the records you have found extracted or submitted - if submitted they may well be wrong. |

Sadly Robert, James Jnr is the only child listed in 1841. If there were any others I assume they'd already moved out or came later. James Jnr married in 1846 so still trying to trace rest of family in 1851 by occupation, father and son were both upholsterers. There are so many James Jones! - Cheers any way Sue PS I have James Jnr and his wife (also Mary Ann!) in 1851 |

Hi Potty (great name!) The records are extracted from St Leonards Shoreditch. I tend to ignore submitted records! Thanks, Sue |

OK Robert, now you've lost me - who are the March family and where do they fit in with my Jones's? Sorry if I'm being dim! Sue |

Hello Robert ( she replied sheepishly!) I did apologise in advance for being dim! I've had a look at the IGI records that you and Lunar have come up with and the one for James in 1826 looks good, but that takes me back to my original question - how do I know which James and Mary Ann the children belong to as there are 2 couples married at St Leonards with those names? If I find the parish records will it give me more information to help ie husbands occupation on marriage, or address for birth etc Thanks again Sue |

Many Thanks for all your help Robert - it looks as though I'll have to go the LMA and study the parish records. I'm getting to the point now where a lot of my tree is beyond the 1837 mark. All uncharted territory for me. There could be lots more pleas for help to come! Thanks again Sue |
