Thank you, Lee and Dreekie, for your help. I appreciate it very much. Just wanted people on here to know that you went out of your way to do something for a stranger on the other side of the world. Thank you. Susan

Susan, always use a google search to find info on anyone/anything. If you enter a search there are a lot of entries about it on the web.

Do you think they would have any historical photos that they would be prepared to copy and send or I am asking a bit too much? I guess it would be asking too much!! Go and have a beer in my family pub and think of me. Does it still look old or has it been modernised. Having visited England I know that a lot of the old pubs are kept in the old style. Thanks for answering, Lee, I can't believe what a small world this is. Susan

Small or large world, I just live 5 minutes walk from the pub! Can I do anything to help you? Regards, Lee

I have just knocked down a brick wall in my research of my great grandmother. She has been a mystery, but having found her birth and sent for her birth certificate a few doors have finally opened. A big surprise was finding that her father and grandfather, Benjamin and Samuel Marshall were both publicans at Woodside Tavern in Low Lane, Horsforth, Yorkshire - Samuel in the 1840's and Benjamin in the 1850's to perhaps the 1870's. I know that the tavern is still there, but as I am in Australia, I can't pop off to see it. Does anyone know anything about this tavern and it's history. I found an old photo on the Leodis site but I guess it has changed greatly over the years. Susan
