I wonder if someone can look up in the 1851 Census returns my great grandmother. I have searched but I don't think I can see the forest for the trees!! I have found her in 1861 and then on in the married name. Her name is Ann Clark and she was born in Horsforth, Yorkshire in October, 1843. Her mother was also Ann Clark born 1821 in Horsforth. It is possible that her mother could be married to William Barker by 1851 although I have not found a marriage as yet. William was not Ann jnr.'s father. I would appreciate any help. Susan

Richard, is it hot in Perth? I'm south of Sydney, it's been beautiful today. Ann's father is Benjamin Marshall born 1816 and he is alive until, I think, 1894. Now, he is on the birth certificate as is Ann's mother (Ann Clark also) which I think is unusual as the father isn't always shown if they are unmarried. I have seen Sarah Ann and it actually ties in date wise, but Ann is not Sarah Ann on her birth certificate or on her marriage certificate or any census returns so I don't think so. By 1861 Ann snr. is married to William Barker with a 17 y.o. daughter Ann. It's a wall that I am breaking down chip by chip. Thanks Richard for your time. Susan

Susan If you look at the spelling of Ann you will see how you missed it. I suppose it could have been mistaken for Ana although it looked very similar to her mother's name to me. I am having a break from my family tree at the moment so I can go back to my Welsh Jones's with a fresh look, but I can't break the habit of dabbling. Susan
