Hi all I am looking for a birth reference for Frederick Ballam born at Milton Abbas/Winterbourne Stickland Dorset 1846 - he was baptised @ St James Church on the 24/9/1846 - his fathers name was Edward Ballam his mothers name was Jane - I have found some other siblings with Blandford as birth reference. Maybe I have missed the ref. but also possibly he was not registered. Many thanks.

Hiyah Like Reg says could well not have been reg. I did find 2 Ballams Fredrick Edward and Charles Edward both at what looks like Bremurch don't know if that is an area is anywhere near them ( can't read it properly ) both 2nd quarter of 1847.vol. XV111 page 533 Germaine x

Pauline, Might be worth contacting the local register office in case his birth is missing from the GRO. Rose

He might not be registered or as previously mentioned his birth ref might not have made the GRO index. You could apply to the local register office (local to the birth) for his cert stating the names of the parents and approximate date. The cert would cost £7 and if no entry can be found in the local index they should return your cheque. No cert, no charge is a common practice from local reg offices and is a more likely place to get a result than the GRO in a case like this.
