I found crew listed as passengers on passenger lists on Ancestry from Liverpool to New York. Worth checking out. You can get free trial with them if you've not subscribed before. Liz

Southampton Records office do some seamens records. If you google and find their website they have an informative page about their records and you can see if the date range fits in with your ancestor. National archives at Kew has other records have a ;look at their on-line catalogue. Teresa

Yes I have found also that the crew are listed in passenger lists. One of mine was listed quite a few times and I wondered how he could have sailed so many times then I relaised he was a ships steward

Thanks Liz, Teresa & Lost Cousin, Found Grandfather on one trip to N.Y., pressume he only made one trip and returned to Scotland, although he was listed as a Ship's Steward it was still as a passanger. Will still try Southampton records. Thanks for help. regards Derek

Its a pity you didnt check out ancestry's free immigration records when they were free! Found hubby's ship steward father crossing from Liverpool to New York 30 times!

Heather, Ye I did miss the immagration records silly me! Found these records on Ellis Island site, also found other relations had no idea about, great detail. (see my thread Ellis Island Site) Costs total of $50 for images per person, I used 'Print Screen' button and then pasted in Word all for FREE! regards Derek
