would someone look at the free bmd at the scan which original transcriber used and see what you think elizabeth courtler married sept 1846 in co durham. entry number seven on first page. have original certificate and does appear to say Courtler and she was apparently born in sunderland c 1827 but cannot find her in 1841 census at all .So have tried all kinds of variations of surname no luck.Am looking for some help thanks alison cos think i am probably missing something!!! again |

Hi Alison, image says Courtler, Elizabeth, Durham N?, XXIV 77. Will see if I can see her in 1841, what Fathers name is given on the certificate? |

thanks everyone fathers name was george on certificate and she maried benjamin gray have tried so many variations and all wrong so far |

- working backwards: Coulson and Colvert are both Sunderland, no father in 1841 Cattle no family and Camble no father - I've ignored those living in Wearmouth - but don't know the geography round there - perhaps they might record their birthplace as Sunderland? All the best Ivy |

This is possibly something that has already been suggested/done but have you one of the children's birth certificates to check mothers maiden name. A possible reference for son Benjamin. Benjamin Gray 1857 Q3 Auckland Durham Volume: 10a Page: 137 Gail. |
