Jay, Just seen this thread, and your msg about Gas Hill and St. John Maddermarket. I am happy to have a look and see if the address you mentioned is still around on Gas Hill. I am not able to send photos via email at the moment as I have a problem with my camera, but would be able to send them to you snail mail. Have you looked at the Plunketts site? They have loads of pictures of Norwich and I am sure there are some of the Maddermarket. Just put the Plunketts into google and you should find it, but if you have a problem send me a pm and I will give you th addy. Let me know if you would like me to check out Gas Hill. Frances

There is a thread somewhere on the boards of people wanting and willing to take pictures for others. Its serveral pages long though so it may take a while to search through them. To find it just do a search on boards, bit at the top of all the threads. Mhairi

Although a lovely idea you should remember that streets get renumbered over the years. I did a lot of research for another member - actually the next street to where I live - and then found out the houses that were listed on the 1901 as numbers 53 and 54 , at the end of the street, no longer existed. They had been demolished to widen the next road. But the house numbers do still exist but not on the ones from the 1901 census. Maureen

I know we're not meant to talk about other sites, but have you tried 'Random Acts Of Genealogical Kindness' Its members do just this sort of thing.....if there is a member for the area you are interested in. It might be worth a look . Alfie.

John - Just a thought - maybe change the title of the thread? ' Would you like a photo of where your ancestors lived?'.... - or something along those lines. Need to get people on board with this one. Hope it gets going! J.

John, - That's a BRILLIANT idea! With digital cameras and e-mails this is such a good way to pass on pix of ancestors homes/home towns. I can't help with your request, I'm afraid, but would be willing to take pics. of places on the Fylde in Lancashire for anyone who had ancestors up here. My request is for a pic. of Pospect Cottage, Gas Hill, Norwich, Norfolk - if it still exists and anyone is out and about that way with camera in hand. Also would love a pic. of St. John Maddermarket, Norwich, where my Great Grandfather had a furniture shop (he was a chair maker!) Hope others join in and we get a whole host of GR members out there with their cameras! Jay.

Could anybody in the Hendon Middlesex area be kind enough to take a picture of 2 SHORT STREET HENDON AND/OR 16 FOSTER STREET HENDON.The birth place(s) of my fathers family,in the early1900s if they still exist! In return i can snap most of Buckinghamshire. IF ANYBODY ELSE WOULD LIKE TO ASK FOR ANY PHOTOS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE THIS THREAD Every picture tells its own story. Many thanks John
