Your grandfather's brother ( no greats there) would be your great uncle. So your own parents Great uncle ...would be your GREAT GREAT uncle. Gwyn

There certainly is. It is the way that such relationships are named in Personal Ancestral File from LDS, for example. And is it so odd? WE don't say Great Great Father, but Great Grand Father, don't we?

Ladies So we think it would be Gt Uncle or Gt Gt Uncle then? I dont know which though - he is the brother of my Gt Grandfather. Any further thoughts? Clive Is there such a thing? Do you think I my get away with putting that on the form? Bacardi X

The Americans would say Great Grand Uncle, I think.

I am writing to New Jersey for a birth certificate for my Gt Grandfathers brother ( they cannot trace one for my Gt Grandfather so I want the next best thing) and I have to put down and prove my relationship to him - but what is it? Thanks for your assistance:-) Bacardi X
