I am trying to find any reference to Easelman family in Kent. I have a Mary Easelman married to James Heritage (my main area of research) 26.9.1841 given as minor fathers name William Easelman but I cannot find any details anywhere or on the census for Easelman family. It may be a spelling thing but the name is very clearly Easelman on marriage details, married in Sellindge Kent. Many thanks Marie Kent

Going off on a bit of a tangent................ If Emily was 11 in 1851, she must have been born before the 1841 census. There are three possible results on 1841 census............ ONE........in the Workhouse Emily Ransley abt 1839 Kent, England Lyminge Kent Mary Ransley abt 1821 Kent, England Lyminge Kent The other two seem to be part of large families, so have discounted them I searched for Emily born 1840 +/-1, living in Lyminge............. Then, on the IGI............. Emily Ransley Birth: Christening: 12 JAN 1840 Lyminge, Kent, England Parents: Mother: Mary Ransley Can't find an Emily Ransley of right age in 1851........... This may be a complete red herring....and you may well think I've 'lost the plot', but there are no results on Ancestry for the surname Easelman, apart from the marriage of Mary to James Heritage................ I'll leave it with you............. Reg

Marie, This may sound dumb, but the spelling of name could be wrong. My g. g. Grandfather was also a mystery: We new his name was Nealus. Found him thru LDS, when he got married it was Nelus presumebly Vicer/registrar heard name and wrote it as it sound. Finally found where born, Neilston. He was listed as Neilis!! Very common fault for wrong spelling, Have you tried Easterman?? etc Derek
