You CAN do it. You CAN break down that brick wall. And the further you go the easier it can get as you start to link your Trees with those of other distant family members.

Thanks Jim, I need encouragement, especially on one particular line. I have a whole family waiting in the wings, as it were, hoping to be able to link them to my 2 x great grandfather, Henry. 2007 is the 11th year that I have been searching for his parents. Gwyn

Bah! Eleven years? IS THAT ALL? Been looking, off and on, for 35 years for my 2 x GGfather. I too have several familes in the wings waiting to claim him. OC

Lol..OC I THINK I know who Henry's parents are likely to be,- a couple having children baptised in the right place at the right time - .even have a convenient gap for Henry between the others and 'Dad' had the same occupation as Henry, a blacksmith. Written confirmation would be SO good though. Gwyn

Still cannot find my Grandparents Marriage Cert after 20+years! But even without a significant certificate by going sideways, backwards and forwards to a death Cert, siblings birth certs or marriage certs you can still break down brick walls. I started with nothing except a list of children born in the late1800's and 1900's which an Aunt passed to me before she died. I had no idea when or where any of them were born or had lived. The clue that one grandfather had been in the army during the Crimea War was my biggest clue. So listen for all those clues that you are given and just keep plugging away and yes do look carefully at your certs. Even now after a 3rd or 4th reading I can still find something I failed to see on the cert the first time I read it. Janet
