Hi II am hoping some bright spark out there can explain a few things to me please. I've been reading on the threads that people are stating 'putting this in my threads' and with reagards to Ancestry whats a 'shoe box'? Would really appreciate some help on this as I'm stumped. I'm sure I'm missing out on how to keep threads. thank you to anyone who can help me. regards Lou Sorry just discovered what a shoe box is! Silly me, I still need advice on the 'my threads' query though. Lou

When you look up a record on ancestry, say a census entry and it relates to you, you can save the information. At the bottom of the listing there is an orangey button that says save. When you click on this you can either save the info by attaching it to someone on your tree (on ancestry if you have one) or save it to your shoebox to look at later. It is an imaginary 'shoebox' that you can then look through and put the info onto your tree.

when you view the family you want on the right hand side before you view image it say put in shoe box click that and it saves it incase you want to look later and forget where you saw it. If you want to look at whats in shoe box on search page on left hand side at top click on My Ancestry and it will come up with what you have saved (only found out about that yesterday) as wondered how to look or delete them Jeanette

Hi Dawn, I've just taken a look on Ancestry and discovered it. I had found an entry I wanted to keep 'just in case' and didn't know where to put it. I must look into all sections of Ancestry as I feel I'm missing out on some valuable stuff. thanks again for your help. Good hunting to you, Lou

by replying to a thread you can later look back at it by clicking on the 'my threads only' bit at the top of the board. If people think that thread will be useful to them they are basically just replying by bookmarking it for later use. Some people may just nudge it up too.

Hi Jeanette, thanks again to you. silly isn't it that we have subscriptions to some sites and still don't know how to use them to their full extent. I only discovered in 2006 that FTM 2005 had a 'relationship calculator'. Yet its a great tool. Good hunting to you Jeanette, Regards, Lou
