Hoping someone may be able to help me with a starting point. I am looking for records from my GGrandmother Margaret Jane Johnstone, she was never registered as being born and she didn't know who her parents were. I got her marriage certificate 30/5/1889 which she was unable to sign, she just put a cross on the signature line. I contacted the aboriginal deptartments as family said that she may be part aboriginal, to no avail. On her marriage certificate she was married at Twin Hills Station - the property owner has the same last name as my GGrandmother. Coincidence? I contacted the station to see if they had records but it has changed hands several times so they no longer have them. Would anybody have any idea where to look from here??? This is a hard one, I have been stuck on her for 12 months and about to give up. Desperate.... |
