Does anyone know how you can check work records, i have all the BDM's that state what my ancestors were employed as, but i am at a loss as to where to start looking further into their working lives. All mainly worked in scotland as weavers /dockers etc.Having dates and occupation is one thing but i would like to know more intimate details of their lives Thanks Iain

Unlikely you will get individual details on the weavers - the dockers you may have luck with perhaps as they may have belonged to a union - try National Archives site to see if they keep records. Try the Port Cities website and google for weavers/mills in the right area for your ancestors.
